Honoring Christa McAuliffe

Christa McAulliffe
Inspired by her life, and acting in her memory, the School of Arts and Sciences honors Christa McAuliffe by educating the next generation of leaders, scientists, philosophers, artists, and others to be fully-prepared for the dynamic world of the 21st Century. As Christa would say, we touch the future.
Imagining the Future
Think about how much the world has changed in just the past decade, especially in terms of technology. Then consider the following question: Living in a dynamic world of continuous change, how do we prepare students for a future for which we can barely imagine? CMA School of Arts and Sciences’s answer: In addition to honing key skills in technology, language arts, and mathematics, and building a strong educational foundation, students must also engage in learning opportunities that promote creativity, critical thinking, and self-direction. How? By fully implementing the Personalized Education Philosophy through a research-based learning model.
Personalized Education Philosophy
The Personalized Education Philosophy and Goals statement has 10 interwoven points. The first point is a statement that sums up the overall purpose of education, noting that it is to empower students to find their own paths to their own dreams; create life-long learners who are prepared for both the modern world and the future; and to empower individuals to make a positive impact in the world. The remaining points expand upon this philosophy, presenting the how and why of it, while listing specific goals. Download the Personalized Education Philosophy to learn more.
