Elementary Program

Thank you for your interest in our elementary program. While many online programs provide a basic core educational experience at a low cost, CMA School of Arts and Sciences provides an enriching experience for students through a personalized approach starting as early as Kindergarten.
Courses
Subject areas include language arts, math, science, social studies, the arts, technology, and health and fitness. A world languages enrichment program is also available at a special rate for full-time CMA School of Arts and Sciences students.
You can view our current elementary school catalog for a description of each course.
Personalized Education Coach
Each student has a dedicated Personalized Education Coach. Personalized Education Coach's are certified teachers who take care of the "big picture" for each student by serving as a guide, advocate, and primary point of contact. Students can choose to keep the same educational facilitator year after year. A student's Personalized Education Coach will oversee the student's progress, make sure certain requirements are met, and help tailor the program to meet the student's learning styles, personal interests, and goals.
Parent Involvement
CMA School of Arts and Sciences elementary program is a team effort that includes parental involvement. The younger the student, the more involved the parent will need to be; as students advance in their technology skills and ability to work independently with Personalized Education Coach guidance and oversight, the parent is able to step back more if he or she so chooses. However, parents are always encouraged to take an active role in their children's program, and CMA School of Arts and Sciences takes steps to establish communication and means for parents to remain aware and active all the way to graduation day.
Blended Model
While even the youngest students engage in online learning experiences, most elementary students also have offline learning experiences. Young students need to develop fine motor skills, so crafts and learning activities involving scissor-use, coloring, pasting, and other hands-on activities are incorporated into lessons. Also, younger students need to develop handwriting skills. Parents and Personalized Education Coaches work together to ensure that each student has a developmentally-appropriate program whether it be online, text-based, blended.
Elementary students are encouraged to engage in PE on a continuous basis, and reading should be regularly assigned even if it is across the curriculum. However, they might not focus on social studies, for example, every learning period. When they do focus on social studies, they are allowed to dive into the subject matter for extended periods of time, resulting in depth as well as breadth.
